Gratitude

You sit wrapped in your long polar fleece robe,
busily pushing buttons on you game controller
while staring at the screen,
wondering why you don't have faster high-speed internet.

You cook pancakes and eat heartily
burning the new spatula and spilling batter on the chairs,
leaving the dishes on the counter
wondering why mom is so disagreeable.

You can't go to school
cuz you didn't sleep well
with your down comforter and pillowtop bed,
wondering why you don't live in a nicer house.

You take off on your trek road bike
after returning the car that was given you,
settling into the clip on shoes and blinking night light,
wondering when things will go your way.
