Early morning,
   you greet the day
      with joy and anticipation
so full of possibilities and raucous fun,
           circled in peaceful love.
Midday you gather your bunny
   and crawl into my lap,
rubbing your fingers on Pancho's ear,
tickling your face with the fabric,
            circled in peaceful love.
Afternoon waterplay on the deck,
with snacks and toys and friends,
       laughing, talking, joyful connection,
         while I watched on,
            circled in peaceful love.
Evening brought a clean boy,
   in fresh pajamas,
and a mound of books to be read,
while rocking and light back tickling
            circled in peaceful love.
Even when you are grown
   that little boy still exists.
      Find that place inside yourself
and rock and tickle and laugh,
            circled in peaceful love.
